  I'm also a recent arrival on the audiophile ladder (you get to the top when you buy the HE90 or reach financial oblivion – whichever happens first). No DAC or amp, but I have my pride and joy: gold Grado SR325i headphones. Etymotic ER6i IEM's for on-the-go listening. I'm happy, but always on the lookout for something better...

  i got the Asus Xonar D2X, it sounds awesome. I generally listen using powered speakers, and even though this card can handle high-impedance headphones well enough (up until 75ohms at least).

  I am an audiophile to me, but not to most audiophiles, but I can't afford the extremely high end equipment. I have 6 speakers that I got from friends for free, a very nice Denon amp I found in my basement, a 80's EQ I got at a pawn shop for $10, a homebuilt subwoofer and amp, and a SB Audigy. but the sound of it makes me happy
