    What distro do you use?

I'm just curious to see the OS spread on audacious users. What does everybody use? Did you compile it yourself, or did you get it from a package manager?

I run OpenBSD, and I got version 2.1.0 from the ports tree (old, but who cares).

  • I am newly addicted to Archlinux and I am using Audacious 2.5.0 and I love it :)

    Audacious 2.5.3 on Ubuntu 11.04

Firt I did get it from the package manager but then I want something more advanced and installed from the audacious repository.

It is the best player, it is simple and does the job.

    openSuSE

    11.4 + Tubleweed repo. Gnome, Audacious 3.

Love the setup: extremely stable, easy to install and configure.
I've tried almost all kinds of distros, except Slackware-based: debian, arch, gentoo, mandriva, pclinux, e.t.c.: SuSE family seems to me to be the best choice for everyday use.

    Fedora 15 XFCE

I always compile the newest one from source, sticking with 2.x however because I couldn't find any good looking skins for gtk3 yet

I'm pretty much happy with Ubuntu 10.10 Maverick release. Audacious is really nice.

    Gentoo

    Hi!
I am using Audacious on Gentoo, obviously compiled from source. When I started using Gentoo, there was xmms, which seemed pretty much as Winamp in Windows, but at some point of time Gentoo' developers decided to keep off xmms. So I had to look for an alternative, and after trying several different players, I am stuck with Audacious. Love it so far, not replaceable for me :)
