Beschreibung:
A group for people who have read and enjoyed Atlas Shrugged by Ayn Rand or feel affinity with its philosophy.

"The evil of the world is made possible by nothing but the sanction you give it. The spread of evil is the symptom of a vacuum. Whenever evil wins, it is only by default: by the moral failure of those who evade the fact that there can be no compromise on basic principles. To live, man must hold three things as the supreme and ruling values of his life: Reason, Purpose, Self-esteem. I swear by my life, and my love of it, that I will never live for the sake of another man, nor ask another man to live for mine. I am the man who loves his life. I am the man who does not compromise his love or his values."

Ayn Rand, Atlas Shrugged

Part of Anti-Socialism (host of other Recommended Books and the Collectivist Hall of Fame)

This group is still under construction, so check back regularly for updates. I do what I can given the limited time I have.

If someone is too dumb or too blind to see how Ayn Rand is very far from Nietzsche, then I pity his or her parents [3]

What's your point? Also, I highly doubt I need any lectures on Nietzsche from either of you ;)

It's true, they're quite far apart, but that does not mean you cannot enjoy them both :) I know I do.

Nothing, I guess, since the arguments have been stated and we haven't come to an agreement :P

I did not say that that was or is my intention, I just figured it might have given you some peace of mind ;o) I stated my reasons for putting those artists here quite clearly, I acknowledge your objections to them and agree with some - but not all - of your estimations regarding the personality of some of the listed artists. I have also taken your objections to having them "connected" into account, yet don't recognize these to be valid. I also told you why. You do not agree with me, I do not agree with you (on this particular matter), and in the end I'm the one making or removing connections to artists. What more is there to say.

That's true, I never did think of it that way. And if you were a honest man, you would admit that that's not your reason for putting such artists up there. If it were, you wouldn't have associated this group only with "anti-socialism" but with an unlimited political and philosophical spectrum. There's no end to the list of such antithesises. And don't tell me you would associate yourself with groups denouncing capitalism and preaching socialism or mysticism. That would be practicing what you preach.

I take it you have never thought of it this way: if Jim Taggart made music I'd connect him to the group as well, because an antithesis of an idea is as much connected to it as a stereotypical example.

You're completely taking my words out of context. I'm not talking about socialists, and I'm not at all opposed to the vocal chords of a socialist. You haven't seen me mention the word socialist, nor imply it. As for these artists, I'm talking about impurity; the kind of moral fraudulence it takes to create a Banner-like product - or do the things Borsato does. Now there's something that's strongly conflicting with the objectivist view of life.

If Atlas doesn't give a shit about the world, why should the world give a shit about Atlas?

Yes, I AM, in fact, Atlas Shrugged... The point is that this is a music site; once AS itself can make connections I leave it free to do so; until then I'll be making them here based on my own preferences. K3 is a perfect product, although, I agree, more in a The Banner than in a Rearden Metal kind of way, but still. Their appearance in the list is based on their cover of "Rustige Oude Dag" by Urbanus. Marco Borsato is indeed an asshole, but I like some of his texts, in which his ideological ineptitude doesn't shine through. In fact, we might even call "Ik Leef Niet Meer Voor Jou" a song for those who opened their eyes to the abuse ;) I understand what you're trying to say though, I just don't agree to it; to me a text in itself or a beautiful voice is completely unconnected from otherwise unrelated stuff. If you want to force yourself into not liking a sound because it was produced by socialist vocal chords, by all means, be my guest.
