Looking for atmospheric spacey mystical mysterious ambient

  • Looking for atmospheric spacey mystical mysterious ambient

    Hi!

I'd like some recommendations for very atmospheric, deep, ethereal, spacey, mystical, mysterious, organic (i.e. not too synthetic/electronic), drony ambient in the vein of

    Opium
    Alio Die
    Stars of the Lid
    Sola Translatio
    Tausendschoen
    Windy & Carl
    Carbon Based Lifeforms

Please no technoid, dancy, trancy stuff... pure meditational, no Dark Ambient! May also have strings!

    Thank you!

  • Steve Hillage and his Rainbow Dome Musick CD

    Dream Fields....

  • High Skies
    Farfield
    Spacetime Continuum
    Yagya
The Orb and their Orbus Terrarum album
    Ulrich Schnauss
    Gas
    Jon Hopkins
    To Heal by Underworld
Aphex Twin and his Selected Ambient Works Vol II album
    Early by Chicane
    Full Moon Fashions
    Eclisse by Nu NRG
The Seventh Chakra by Seven Ways
    Datar
JFC and his Chrome De Lux album
    Deep Space Network
    Ty Unwin
    FFWD
    Aural Planet
    Global Communuication

    Dream Fields....

I would recommend Eluvium, Hammock (especially the "Maybe They Will Sing for Us Tomorrow" album), The Dead Texan, and Brian McBride's solo work.

Early Tangerine Dream stuff would also fit, especially

    Zeit
    Phaedra
    Rubycon

Phaedra and Rubycon ARE synthy, but in a good old 70's style. And they differ much from their later music, which is imo - with few exceptions - plastic kitschy new-age disco music parody.

    Cat's foot iron claw
    Neuro-surgeons scream for more
    At paranoia's poison door.
    Twenty first century schizoid man.

    Blood rack barbed wire
    Politicians' funeral pyre
    Innocents raped with napalm fire
    Twenty first century schizoid man.

Check out the game soundtrack to The Dig. Also take a look at the movie soundtracks for Crash and Solaris.

i may be abused for plugging my own tuneage here, but i had an ambient album out not long ago... it's completely for free from megaupload (will get my own webspace one day)... http://www.megaupload.com/?d=CUYSUBD2

it's all meditative... and largely improvised... what little comments i've had have been good
