The only artist from your list that we can include is Two Witches. The other bands weren't formed or didn't release any material till the early 90s.

XIII. stoleti was called HNF (Heroes of New Frontline) in 80's and they played something like gothic punk. I personally consider HNF as MUCH more better than XIII. stoleti. But I really like punk music, so...

  • Asylum Party and Echo and the Bunnymen should be added. Some good Darkwave/ Coldwave.

  • Hello! I'm Angela. I'm a total sucker for some 80's goth music.
I'm really glad to see someone else said And Also the Trees
That band is so fucking awesome!

I know it's not 80's.. it's actually very current but if you guys haven't heard of the band Feeding Fingers you should check it out. They are amazing and have a bit of that 80's sound to them. Justin Curfman is the nicest guy I've ever met.. weird... but nice

    sweet like harmony
  • i wonder how many of you people are old enough and actually did this goth thingy in the 80s really and how many was discovering it just a few years ago. :)

    Does it matter?

  • I wasn't quite old enough to be hitting clubs and discovering goth in the 80's. I was first exposed to 90's goth music as opposed to 80's but I don't think it matters how old or young you are..as long as you've found your way in the end :)

    ...Death in Venice..

  • In keeping to your long-standing tradition of bitching about the connections as a first post, why no Beggar's Banquet? They were THE goth label.

Nice way to introduce yourself. As valid as your point was, you've been banned for being an insolent idiot.

    Hey!
Just wanna mention Blood & Roses, another legendary 80s 'positive punk' band.
And The Sound? (Not gothic but influential)

And Skeletal Famly? If is added Ghost Dance you must Add Skeletal Family.

Greetings and salutations. Very happy to have found this group - this is the music I cut my teeth on, growing up.

I may be going out on a limb here, but may I please suggest Ministry and Nine Inch Nails to be added to the list?

I know they are considered industrial, mainly speaking - but both bands (especially Ministry's first few albums) were definitely influenced by and influenced the goth movement throughout the 80s.

If this has already been discussed, my apologies.

    Nice to meet you all.

    Hi all
Just a small suggestion from my side - classic Polish cold wave band

    http://www.last.fm/music/Pornografia

on live gigs, they were supported by Anja Orthodox herself - later of Closterkeller fame. Maybe they sang only in my native language, yet their music and mood remains over words...

    Non-existing entity...

    The Virgin Prunes

The original Goth band - they defined the goth look, Guggi was the man
