    Welcome to the group

Nope, it seems there wasn't one yet. I absolutely love the Gothic music from the 80s and I'm sure that there are many out there who do also. If you do, please join and name some artists which you'd like added to the list :)

  • Hmmm...Maybe you can add Mephisto Waltz and Gene Loves Jezebel? This really brings back fond memories... :)

  • Attrition {if continuing past the 80s doesn't disqualify them)
The Danse Society (Heaven Is Waiting is one of the greatest goth rock albums ever imo)
    And Also The Trees
    Wolfgang Press
    The Bolshoi
    The Marionettes

I am leader of: the Ethereal music group; the Darkwave Music group and the Faith And the Muse group.

OK, all added. I think as long as they start in the 80s it's OK. I mean, The Cure and Cocteau Twins + others started in the 80s but went beyond it.

I'm not.... waaaahaahhhh *bawls* I think as long as they started in the 80s it's OK. Even if they're still going now :)

Maybe I didn't get the irony in your last comment :( It's been a long day.

sorry, just wanted to agree ironically... or so :)

  • Theres a lot of bad-ass gothic rock from the 90s too. Some of it I like better than 80s. Bands like The Wake, Rosetta Stone, Children on Stun, Love Like Blood, Two Witches, Nosferatu... they totally rule.

But I dont think anything will ever top my love for the Nephilim, Sisters, or Bauhaus. 80s Goth rocks.

  • how about Deine Lakaien? Girls Under Glass? Alien Sex Fiend?

In the Grassy Fields, where the World goes to Sleep...

Seeing as they were formed in 1993 I don't think they really count as 80s...

    Oops sorry! I don't know why I thought they were 80's :)
How about Tubeway Army or Visage?

I checked out both bands and there is no reference to either being described as Gothic... I wouldn't really call Gary Numan's music Gothic in any way :(

Hi all, we should not forget The Human League (why is Depeche Mode into this list ???) and Love & Rockets

Depeche Mode is on the list because their sound is HUGELY influential in the Gothic scene. Without them the Gothic electro movement may not have even started - Dave Gahan is such a big figure to many people of the Gothic persuasion.

On the other hand, I'm not sure The Human League are in the same erm... league. Love & Rockets have been added.

    Yes, added :)

  • Depeche Mode, well I personally wouldn't add them to this genre. If I did, I would take The Human League with. Human League is pioneer even before Depeche Mode.
