    if you're experiencing problems with scrobbling on windows please try:

    * download http://cdn.last.fm/plugins/ass/iTunesPluginWinSetup_3.0.4.1.exe
    * Quit iTunes and the Last.fm client
    * run the downloaded installed program
    * restart iTunes and Last.fm

    The first time this starts it will show the "Last.fm is preparing iPod scrobbling" notifications.

    Once this is complete i hope iPod scrobbling should be working again.

    Let me know how you get on.

    Is it even possible to check if the message has already poppep up? Sometimes I leave the PC with Tunes opened when the message is taking too long.

    Same as ^Marcosspears. iTunes updates my iPod automatically, but the scrobbler only caught 5 songs. I went into the diagnostics and changed it to say that I manually managed my music and it caught the other 162 songs. Basically, what I've been doing for weeks now.

    Having the same problem here. Scrobbler takes pHuX0R1N' ages to load for iPod scrobbling or does not load at all.

  • Try this..
    1.Open ur itunes
    2.Quit the last fm scrobbler. Exit it completely.
    3.Now open ur itunes. Connect ur ipod. Sync it.
    4. Now open the last fm scrobbler again. Go to Help->Diagnostics.Select the ipod scrobbling tab. And then press the scrobble ipod button. Done. Wait for sometime.
    All tracks wil be scrobbled.

    Hope ths helps. We could do this until last fm solves the bugs.

    I think I have the same problem. My iTunes scrobbles, but my iPod doesn't. Via diagnostics it also doesn't scrobble...

    I have the same problem, too.

    Installed 3.0.4.1.
    Now when I start windows I get the message Lastfm is preparing to scrobble and not to connect my iPod or Sync.
    This last for a few minutes and tell me Scrobbling is now ready.
    If I sync my iPod now its fine.
    Its just everytime I start my iTunes I have to go through this preperation process again.

    I've got a new build for trying out - I did a bit more testing and I hope this fixes the "Last.fm is preparing iPod scrobbling" message that appears every time.

    Here's the link: http://cdn.last.fm/plugins/ass/iTunesPluginWinSetup_3.0.4.2.exe

    Same instructions as before:

    I've been taking a look through the code and have a possible fix for OSX users:

    * Download http://cdn.last.fm/jono/AudioScrobbler.bundle-221110.zip and double click to extract the AudioScrobbler.bundle file.
    * Quit iTunes and Last.fm
    * Delete the AudioScrobbler.bundle file found in (Your User Home)/Library/iTunes/iTunes Plug-ins/
    * Move this AudioScrobbler.bundle to (Your User Home)/Library/iTunes/iTunes Plug-ins/
    * Start iTunes and Last.fm

    Please let me know how this goes..

    Unfortunately iPod scrobbling is not an exact science, since apple do not support us in this feature in any way.

    I'll try and work out what's going wrong for Windows users but I suspect there has been close to nothing changed in the last update which will effect iPod scrobbling.

    THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS! It's working, I'm so happy! :D

    Of course, now there's a software update for my iPod and I'm scared to download and install it in case it messes this up... But it shouldn't, right?

    An update for your iPod shouldn't mess up iPod scrobbling. At the end of the day we get no support from Apple so we can only hope for the best!

    didn't work for me i tried and waited till my itunes and last.fm were restarted then i plugged in my ipod and it didn't find any scrobbles, in the options/ipod folder it says diagnostics unknown and when that popped up 3 weeks ago the whole issue started and before my username stood behind my ipod in that section.

    Hi, Excellent!
    I have installed 3.0.4.2
    When I start iTunes now I dont get the message each time that Lastfm is preparing itself for scrobbling and when I plug my iPod in it seems to pick up all the scrobbles!
    Seems to be working. Will test further.

  • still not working :///// i downloaded the 3.0.4.2 and it doesnt work.

  • it's still not working with plugin 3.0.4.2. also the diagnostics thing is not working anymore. going back to previous plugin 3.0.4.1

  • 3.0.4.2 seems to be working for me. Granted I only tested with 8 song plays and it found all of them in 162 seconds according to the Diagnostics window which is about what it used to take for me, so that's a good sign. Whether it'll work on a full day's worth of iPod plays remains to be seen though.

    EDIT: Just did a test of about 3 hours worth of music and it found all of the track plays. I did have to go to Help->Diagnostics->Scrobble iPod to get it to start searching though, so if anyone is still having trouble try that.

    Sweet! Thanks for all your work!

    With iTunes 10.1 + Plugin v3.0.4.2 I no longer get the "Last.fm is preparing iPod scrobbling" message every time I start iTunes! And my iPod is scrobbling just fine also!

    It resolved my issues (no ipod plays scrobbling).

    However, maybe I reset something during previous troubleshooting. All of my plays on the ipod from mid-November never scrobbled, but now "new" plays will scrobble fine.

    Is there any way to re-scrobble previous plays ? I can see them all in the itunes "recently played" list.

    (WinXP SP3, iTunes 10.1.0.56, Last.fm 1.5.4.27091 plugin 3.0.4.2)

    Same. I'm not getting the "Preparing for iPod scrobbling" balloon but it also doesn't scrobble anything anymore either.

  • Whoops, messed threads. Sorry.

    I've tried downloading the newest version, and it comes up with a page that says service temporarily unavailable. I am getting the worst amount of frustrated about this. I'd really like a fix.
