I did the rollback once again and it finally worked!

    @up: ditto.

  • I was having scrobble problems to and then suddenly it just started working. All I did was click the about button in Itunes to see what version I was using and then the scrobble button popped up.

It must have just been a coincidence.

i installed the new itunes-plugin but that had no effect on the scrobbling issue

my data once again (but updated :) )
    1: iPod Video 30GB FW: 1.3
    2: LastFM version: 1.5.0.24910
    3: iTunes 7.6.2.9
    4: Windows Vista Business SP1
    5: iTunes Plugin 3.0.0.13

after downgrading to 1.4..... (the one posted by sharevari) ipod-scrobbling worked just fine... as it did before :)

  • Thank you very much for the comment by the staff. It works fine now with the old version.

    iPod not scrobbeling

    New updates don't work either

    1) 80 gB iPod - video (Software 1.3)
    2) iTunes 7.6.2.9
    3) Windows XP
    4) iTunes plugin 3.0.0.13

    What's the verdict. Downgrade or?

    VETO

Downgrade till the staff solve the problem. Actually, it makes no difference whether you're using 1.42 version or 1.50, but the former scrobbles songs, and the latter doesn't.

Works for me, the only difference I see is that I am using a shuffle :|

  • I'm glad the old version is still working for all of you. I would be surprised if it didn't. But what I'm wondering is why wouldn't the staff check to make sure that scrobbling from an iPod still worked before they released the update? It has always bothered me that iPod support has seemed like an afterthought when it should be a focus. There should never have even been a need for iSproggler. How can what seems to be such a cool company not get this?

So, new update (or at least, my Last.FM updated *something*), but no difference for me. Anyone else on this?

    Still not working for me.

I've tried rolling back to an older version, blowing every possible Last.fm setting/config file so that it thinks I'm a new user. I can't find any way to provoke the client into detecting my iPod let alone scrobble from it.

    - iPod 5th gen
    - iTunes 7.6.2
    - Last.fm 1.4.2.58240 or 1.5.0.25618
    - Mac OS X 10.4.11

    Edit: Seems to be working

I was forced to restart my machine and upon starting iTunes I saw a growl popup saying last.fm was looking for iPods to scrobble so I docked my iPod and another growl popup said this iPod would be scrobbled from, so I undocked, played a track and docked it again, nothing was scrobbled.

In the client preferences I could see my iPod but it wasn't associated with a last.fm account. Despite the "Enable iPod scrobbling" and "Always confirm iPod scrobbles" options being ticked, I toggled them off, and back on again, hit OK, undocked the iPod and docked it again, lo and behold it asked me if I wanted to scrobble the track I had played, and now the iPod is associated with my account.

It seems to be working again (with the latest version) so I'll see how it behaves, but it still strikes me as being a little on the flaky side.

I have uninstalled, installed, uninstalled etc etc older versions and the "new" versionj, but all to no avail. My Ipod simply does not scrobble any more..... Won't upgrade my subscription till things get sorted.

  • I'm having the same problem... I rolled back to 1.4.2.59470 (and restarted the computer several times), and my iPod STILL won't be detected.

It sucks because since last wek I have listened to at least 800 songs on my iPod, and now those will never show up.

    EDIT:
As soon as I posted this, the last.fm dialogue box popped up and asked me if I wanted things played on my iPod to be scrobbled to my profile. So, it looks like the old version works for me. I will not be updating until I see more posts about the new version working (without having to do tedious thinsg to it that will give me headaches).

    Possible solution

    My config is:

    -iPod 6G 80G in auto-sync mode
    -Windows XP SP2
-latest versions of Last.fm & iTunes software

All of my music is being kept on external USB HDD, which is disconnected for most of the time, even for synchronization between iPod and iTunes as long as I am not putting new music to my iPod. Sync process seems to be running just fine, play counts are updated, so I saw no excuse for connecting mentioned HDD to do the job. With previous version of Last.fm scrobble-this-don't-scrobble-that window popped up everytime after synchronization, but with new version of software I got problems described by many of you in this thread before.

Trying to find on what pattern problem occured, I re-installed Last.fm software, cleared configs, and so - without any resolution. Sometimes iPod data was scrobbled, sometimes was not.

Then I came to idea to connect my offline HDD with MP3s to the computer before synchronization after some two or three previous syncs were not scrobbled. Guess what happened? I got pop-up window from Last.fm with all previously not scrobbled music listed. This happened after synchronization with HDD connected and after I commanded iTunes do disconnect iPod (as suggested by iPod scrobbling FAQ here on Last.fm pages).

I presume there is some kind of bug in latest Last.fm that prevents it from scrobbling in situation where iTunes is running and there is a warning of some offline MP3s (displayed as exclamation mark left to the song title in iTunes list). Last.fm engineers please look if this is the cause of problems with iPod scrobbling. Thanks!

Just for information. The new iPod scrobbling system is over 4 times more effective than the old system according to our stats.

It's a bug in iTunes on Windows that means we can't iPod scrobble unless the files can be found by iTunes. Not much we can do about it I'm afraid.

  • This is happening to me too. I just got a new ipod touch and last.fm won't recognize it. I removed my old ipod from the known ipods list and my new one still won't come up. I'm using 1.4.2 of last.fm on xp.

  • Okay, I THOUGHT the roll back worked, but even though my iPod is being detected no tracks are being scrobbled. Hm. Oh, well. I guess no more iPod scrobbling for me.

iPod Photo scrobbles with new Last.fm on OS X, iPhone still not "seen"

With the new update on OS X, my 40GB iPod Photo wasn't appearing in the list of iPods. I disabled "Enable disk use" on my iPod in iTunes, and the iPod immediately appeared in the list.

Played a track on my iPod, sync'd, and the last.fm software picked it up and asked if I wanted to scrobble it (I had the option to confirm scrobbles turned on).

    iTunes 7.6.2, OS X 10.4.11, Last.fm 1.5.0.25618.
iPod set to auto-sync upon dock.

My iPhone on the other hand, doesn't appear in the list of iPods still. iPhone is set to manual sync.

Are you saying, and I don't know if you are a developer, that we won't be able to scrobble Our iPods in the future?
I would like to know, now B-/
