can't log in to last.fm client

I have done a fresh reinstall and get to the point of logging in, then once I put the credentials in, mouse turns to hourglass and does not ever change. I have tried different computers and different names, no success. I have also tried creating a new password. If anyone has any suggestions to fix this problem it would be helpful!

i tried several routers and turned off avg, (just used for computer scanner, didnt ever install the firewall) windows firewall is off. This happened about the beginning of December, I uninstalled because the client was storing plays in the cache and not scrobbling. I decided to reinstall and during the installation process it will not log in. If that gives any insight into the problem. Thank you for the response, any other ideas would be helpful! I have school internet, could that be an issue, even though it was fine till December?

There were 12 steps in the route. 1-4 were my router, ip, and school related ip's, 5-11 displayed the message request timed out, 12 displayed a higher latency of 99ms at playground.last.fm, and an ip. Then the program stated "trace complete." I do not know if that is acceptable or if the timed out ones count as errors and that is why it is not working? Thanks
