protesters help Planned Parenthood raise money

  • protesters help Planned Parenthood raise money

i thought this was bloody brilliant.

planned parenthood is having people pledge money based on the number of protesters outside. they then post the results outside so that the protesters realise that they are helping them. it is a good way to turn bad publicity.

Hah! This is wonderful. I'm definitely pro-choice, since I have a penis, and this is just a great thing to do. I also love how the author called the protesters "anti-choice", instead of "pro-life", because that is bogus. :} Thanks for posting this.

You'd probably have to go to a Planned Parenthood clinic that has abortion protests outside.

To date, the Pledge-a-Picket program has raised $18,000 for PPCT.

For donations ranging from $.25 to $1, that's a decent amount of money to make for having people protesting you.

Bush is waiting for Rehnquist to fall over dead so he can fuck the Supreme Court over something good. Say goodbye Roe v. Wade.

My enemies will find you and kill you to get to me, because secret identities are for the safety of you, not me.

actually, i think Rehnquist isn't going to wait to die. he is fairly conservative, and wanted bush to have the appointment. what i really hope is that Sandra Day O'Connor holds out. rumor has it she is ready to retire, too, but i think that she might hold out if she thinks roe v. wade will be overturned.

Yeah, Rehnquist always votes conservative, I just couldn't remember who was retiring who is important. Plus, it ain't really Roe v. Wade that holds precedence anymore, it's that Casey v. Pennsylvania Planned Parenthood.

But, if you were pro-choice, and you went to protest, because it raised money for the cause, wouldn't that make you a hyprocrite? Or, maybe you'd just get beat up by the pro-lifers, I suppose...

If you protested with them, I don't think they'd care what your stance is because they'd believe you were anti-choice (i much rather calling them that than pro-life). And if you were doing it to raise more money, I don't think that'd be hypocritical, I think it'd just be clever.

Well, as long as you didn't get a great big sign that said "I support abortions!", or anything like that...

I don't think you would be earning money for the pledge, in that case. And you probably would get roused a bit...

    Or maybe pelted with rocks?

I volunteered very briefly at a clinic, escorting women in and out of the clinic. Any person that works in an abortion clinic or a planned parenthood seriously has balls. It's a scary place to be.

It's also scary to think of Roe vs. Wade being overturned.

There is much to be afraid of in modern day America.

Well, if I can't protest by publicly expressing my beliefs, I won't be protesting at all. Which means I won't be raising any money, I guess. I guess that I can't outsmart backwards logic, then...

Domination of language is an unjust exercise of power. By imposing your terminology on others, you're propagating linguistic absolutism. My original accusation of fascism was slightly facetious, but you've shown yourselves worthy of the title. Ergo, fucking fascists.

"Fetuses are uniquely different from born human beings in major ways, which casts doubt on the claim that they can be classified as human beings. The most fundamental difference is that a fetus is totally dependent on a woman's body to survive. Anti-choicers might argue that born human beings can be entirely dependent on other people too, but the crucial difference is that they are not dependent on one, specific person to the exclusion of all others. Anybody can take care of a newborn infant (or disabled person), but only that pregnant woman can nurture her fetus. She can’t hire someone else to do it.

Another key difference is that a fetus doesn't just depend on a woman's body for survival, it actually resides inside her body. Human beings must, by definition, be separate individuals. They do not gain the status of human being by virtue of living inside the body of another human being—the very thought is inherently ridiculous, even offensive."

"In the first trimester when 90% of all abortions are performed, there is no functioning of the cerebral cortex, clearly nothing that distinguishes it as human. The only neuro function is nothing more than very primitive brain stem activity which control autonomic responses. The cerebral cortex doesn't start to function until about the same time as the outer edge of viability - 20 to 22 weeks, long after most abortions are done. For further medical facts I suggest "Facts of Life: Science and the Abortion Controversy" by Harold J. Morowitx."

Why don't you just eat it, anyhow? If you're hungry, and have something to eat... wouldn't you just eat it? Natural instinct to survive? Or are human beings not included in that one...? ;)
