    Slowness

It seems the latest burst of popularity has overloaded our existing pair of web servers completely, so stuff will be quite slow. We should have our new web server online by the end of this week, which will speed everything up.

Until then, here's a shameless plug: Recently we introduced a new load-balancing system (thanks again to the brilliant people at LiveJournal) which means we've given subscribers priority over normal users. In essence subscribers can "queue-jump" the load-balancing system, and response times will be much quicker for those who are subscribed.

So if you think the site is too slow, don't complain, subscribe ;). It makes the site faster for you immediately, and it'll help everyone in the long run.

(note that this load-balancer is still under testing and so this is not yet an official subscriber feature - it's subject to change or removal)

    FIRST!

Death is certain ~ Life is not
Your mind lies dormant ~ Proceeding to rot
The final curtain ~ Has drawn its close
When death is certain ~ The end unfolds.

    second! (grrrr, haha.)

thanks for the updates/changes... i really do like where they are going. lets just see how patient we can be, kids.

oh, and it's nice to have some priority when browsing because of my donation. though, i guess i'd never know what it was like browsing without my little blue '+' since i donated right after signing up.

    i'm a good a samaritan.

    I'd say...

handling subscribers as preferred members is generally a good way :-)

I don't remember if I have asked this before, but is there a way to donate without a credit card or paypal?

It would make sense to give payers priority. Incidentally, how do I become a subscriber?

*notes how 90% of repliers are donators*

I would donate too, but I don't have a credit card. Or money for that matter. Everything comes second to World of Warcraft.

I would probably donate but, even when people donate it's kind of slow ;_; I do like audioscrobbler a lot, but, it would be really great if my recommendations worked! But yeah, maybe if things get better I will donate! (It took me over a year to finally get a paid account with livejournal!)

Any new subscribe feature is always nice. Might prompt more people to subscribe which in the end makes it better for all of us.

    Love the new additions.

the track count doesn't seem to work for a while now although recent tracks are updated... is this from the overload or some kind of a new bug?

There's troubles with this in its entirety, not just to those down under. Try posting in here if you've donated and not gotten the goods.

    This isn't exactly new... in fact, I think it has been a Known Issue for some time. That said, I'm sure it's just another effect of the slowness that goes with list generation (to an extent(speculation, may be bullshitting)). Can't wait for the new hardware, hehe. :}
