I worked on a Pandora solution

  • Re:

    Quoth Gabek:
It shouldn't be. If you listen to it past the time limit of auto-submit and then decide you don't like it, then it's already been submitted.

So if it's doing it by default, then it's wrong. Let me know if you see that.

Well, I wasn't talking about "submitting". That way it works great! I listened to it for almost 20 hours and it did what it had to.
I was wondering about the "LOVE" and "BAN" signal. Are they submitted as well or not?

P.s. my english is not that well. if you already answered to my question please be patient! ;)

I see what you mean. Nope, the ban and love are for Pandora statistics only. They don't get sent to Last.FM. But I learned if you don't tell it what songs you like, it keeps repeating them eventually!

It's driving me mad-whenever I log onto Pandora it plays two songs at once?

    Can you help please?

As I recall, that is addressed in the Pandora FAQ.

    Very true!

Q: I am hearing two songs at once and the pause button doesn't seem to work. Whats going on?

This happens in some configurations with older versions of the Flash player.

  • FAQ

I downloaded the new version of Flash Player-it's still the same. I doubt the answer is in FAQ as someone from Pandora technical team made some trouble shooting suggestions-"do you have music playing elsewhere"?-after suggesting I don't use link as it bypasses their Ads?? I'm not too good with computers but I'd really like to make this work?

  • I've noticed that if I pause Pandora after a song has been submitted to last.fm and then unpause it, it will count down and submit again unless I click "Don't submit."

Good catch. I never thought of that.

  • Has anyone got their account stolen, yet?

    Not yet.

"Once a lumberjack was about to chop down a tree, when he noticed a heart carved on it, with two names inside. Putting away his axe, he sawed down the tree instead. The point of that story escapes me, although six months later the lumberjack was fined for teaching a dwarf Roman numerals." -Woody Allen
  • Thank you for your reply.

  • Is it just me, or is Pandora.fm not working for anyone else today either? pandora.com works just fine for me, and the real-ity.com home page loads just fine, but www.real-ity.com/pandora just comes up for me as a blank screen.

    Pandora may not like this

First off, great job on this! I wanted to do something similiar on my music site http://www.streampad.com, and contacted Pandora about this. They were not happy about putting their flash movie on another site. I wrote a blog post about this (and comparing last.fm to pandora) http://www.streampad.com/blog/?p=24.

Here's an excerpt from the email they sent me: "From a business standpoint, embedding our tuner into another site’s page is not attractive to us, because we use the page around the tuner to make money
(which we need because the serving and licensing costs for the music are
quite high). Also, whoever is serving the webpage on which the music is
playing is required to pay ASCAP and BMI (~3.5% of revenue), through direct
contracts with them. We already have these contracts in place, I suspect
    you do not."

    Can we make Pandora happier?

I wonder if they would have as much of an issue with this if you included their ads/iframe data in the mashup?

I think this is a fantastic app. Discovered it only recently through the 'pandora' user on 'del.icio.us' (no doubt created by a fan of Pandora as well).

Since I only rarely listen to my mp3 collection these days Pandora seems to be my avenue for music listening and exploring, and it'd be great if last.fm could document the music I listen to. Therefore I would be interested in seeing heavy development of this service. Kudos, dude!

    Important note

I see people linking/bookmarking/etc PandoraFM for others to see, often with the "id=xxx" on there. If anyone hits that URL, they will start submitting to your last.fm site. That ID is a unique ID created when you login to associate your lastfm info to your current pandora session. www.real-ity.com/pandora/ would be the proper place to go.

Just a note from your friendly PandoraFM guy :)

haha. thanks for the catch :)

So, I personally haven't tried this yet. But, when I goto www.real-ity.com/pandora/, am I logging into last.fm, or pandora?

You're logging on to the last.fm. You can log on to your Pandora account once the application has loaded. Just click "Account" and "Log in".
