    OpenPandora now has Last.fm support

    Hi everyone,

During the last few months I was working on OpenPandora.

Untill now it was a stand alone windows application that played music from Pandora.
    It had
    - custom title construction from artist and song name,
    - it could send song information to Microsoft Messenger,
    - and it could be minimized to tray.

But starting from today OpenPandora has Last.fm support.
Tracks can be submitted automatically or manually. Settings allow also skipped tracks to be submitted.

    Update
    Even more new features:
    - Play/Pause, Skip, select I like or I don't like from the tray icon menu
    - Change station from the tray icon menu
    - Control with multimedia keyboard
    - Control with global shortcuts:
    Ctrl+Win+Space: Toggle Play / Pause
Ctrl+Win+Right: Skip to the Next Song
    Ctrl+Win+Up : I Like this Song
    Ctrl+Win+Down : I Don't Like this Song
    - Keep on top of other windows
    - Copy current track info to the clipboard
    - Lyrics
    - Popup tray notification baloon with started track details
    - Proxy support

Check the blog for more updates.

Please give a try, and tell me what you think about it.

It's the best thing I've ever seen on earth! :)

I really like it because you have so many functions.
But I would be glad if you could "Love" the track like you can do in last.fm, so that you can play it in your "Loved Tracks" radio on last.fm.
Also it would be nice to give tags to the song that's actually played, like in the last.fm software.

    Greetings,
    Thorsten

PS Why can't I choose my radiostations from the tray in the latest beta (0.6.4.0)? In the version before I was able to choose them...

  • (likes very much so)

Keep up the good work. :)

  • wow I've just installed it, never used it before, I think I love it already.. l.fm doesn't scrobble for me though

  • This looks really impressive.

I'll definately download this and give it a whirl over the weekend.

Features I'd like to see are:

loving / banning a track for our last.fm personal radio stations.(as mentioned by another poster)
personal tagging for our last.fm personal radio stations.(as mentioned by another poster)
MP3 ripping. Very easy to acheive but I'm not sure how you'd feel about adding that feature. ;)

    well...
I think not having the advertisments appear is already somewhat pushing the border. And since this is such a cool app, I think it would be a really bad idea.

The ads are not the only income for Pandora. They make also money from links to other sites that sell music.
After all you listen to the music and don't have to gaze at their site to hear, except when you want to get some info about the track.
BUT allowing saving the music will violate the license they use.

  • Pandora has made a change to the way it handles artist/track info so OpenPandora requires an update as it's no longer scrobbling. :(

Fixed - new version up (0.6.5), and it's back on track.

needs new api 2.0 update maybe?

did you guys try emailing the support email address the developer left as well?

    openpandora@gmail.com

i was actually just browsing around to try and find something like this (new to pandora) and was a little disappointed to see it no longer working :(

  • The day I got OpenPandora I was able to scrobble tracks for all of 20 minutes before it stopped scrobbling. My luck.
