Upload picture not possible

With no updates on the matter(s), it only reflects on how things get done on here. The pages are lagging and are not loading up properly. And when they do, they have no images/avatars on the pages. When I try to navigate around on Last.FM band pages, my pages expire while in loading mode. It doesn't do that on any other site I go on but here.

It must be a ghost site! it's just running on it's own. Kind of like those ghost ships on the sea/ocean. Just floating around.

I'm sorry but this is starting to sound like an on going canned message. Will it always be this way? Will there ever be a resolution to this problem?

We as dedicated paid users spend a lot of our personal time and energy providing information about the artist we listen to for you on this site. Providing images to go along with their 'biographies' and uploading 'album art' to me is essential and part of that information on this website. We do this all for you for FREE and when we are not able to do so after many attempts it often gets very frustrating to say the least.

Would you care to elaborate a bit more? Thank you in advanced for your time.

Without wanting to go into too much detail, the way we store images isn't the best way (possibly an understatement). In order to improve how we store them, we need to upgrade each image server, or switch to a new method entirely involving our content delivery network. Either method is hard to implement without making the image problem worse while the method is rolled out.

We're still in a process of evaluating which course to take that will provide a more robust system in the future, and also minimize the impact while we implement it.

Thanx for the update:

If it was up to me I'd say get the best option implemented asap. Even it if would mean with virgin servers (no data of images) and let everybody upload their favourite art/images again incl. avatars etc I bet within a week most images will be uploaded again by users. The only concert would towards album art but also that would probably be up for popular artists within a week, I guess obscure albums might take a month to 6 months. Less if some sort of auto-correction for albums was also implemented, which I think will take much longer to realize.

PS Anyway, it's not working again for me; Opera 12 latest, Flash latest

PSS if there is some kind of workaround or time-window when it's more likely to work, please keep us advised.

could change my picture yesterday, wanted to change it again today, but couldn't. it wouldn't work on Google Chrome or Safari, I tried several pictures, different sizes etc. nothing worked. I even deleted my profile picture to upload a new one, now i dont have a profile picture at all lol.

i understand that there are problems with the image server or something, but is there really nothing that I can do to upload a picture?

The answer is very simple.
It's time to buy new, strong and modern servers.
The owners of Last FM must be let the profit in the business instead of taken out the profits.
But no, the owners of Last FM thinks the engineers will resolve the problems every time.
Seems to me the usability of this social page isn't important for the owners.
Nevertheless the users do everything. They uploads the images, they edits the artist and album wiki pages, the users writes the journals and the users pays their money for using Last FM.

My Avatar's Gone Again.

I just noticed today that my avatar was gone. Instead, there was another blank screen. Now, I cannot upload my original avatar that I had which was Nyan Cat. Please fix this Last.fm!

Many users can't upload images. Some of us lost avatar images...

The problem is with the servers because the servers always timed out.
Try to upload any images to the artist or album pages... you will see the result.

Hardware wise, everything is ok. The problem is the system we use to store these images. We're not going into any technical details, except for that we're aware of the problem and are trying to fix it.

I don't want to open new thread, so I'll just ask in here. Can somebody please fix picture for this artist: http://www.last.fm/music/Glasvegas
Seems that everybody is hating current, and it may be some kind of bug, as second one is supposed to be their picture by votes.

^ That is an unrelated issue, that picture is the 'official' image as set by the label or artist or what have you. You won't change it by votes. You're stuck with it.
