I'm guessing they work hard during the week. This is a very complex site with a huge membership, and I have no idea how complex the GIF issue is. Neither do you. It's also not the only thing on their plate.

I'm sure they'd love to get it fixed, if for no other reason than to stop all the bitching. But beyond that, they understand it's an important issue for the site, so I kind of doubt if they're just ignoring it.

I'd prefer to know last.fm does not allow to use GIFS than look this treat and see no one says anything concret about this problem.

Yes, a progress report would be nice, just to let people know they are indeed working on it.

I note that even old animated avatars are broken on the beta site, which is no doubt related to the resizing issue they're trying to fix. (They're a different size there, and thus, not cached from before the new code.)

Thanks again for stepping up to the the plate as a red icon. :)

What was wrong with the old resizing code that caused you to feel the need to change it? I thought it worked pretty well, though some animated GIFs didn't animate on their smaller versions (though at least they didn't animate badly, like they once did).

Thanks for all the info that's been provided! Although I miss my animated GIFs I understand that these things take time and will be patient :)

It says that my aniated gif is like 3kb while it should be 300, that being said would it e possible for the uploading process to fail at some point and that being the reason for not working avatars?

The same applies when i upload cd covers and pics through the music manager.

So maybe the upload connection with the server gets cut for whatever reason

I haven't noticed it but it can be the reason.
