Wrong album names in library although mp3 is correctly tagged

  • Wrong album names in library although mp3 is correctly tagged

    I am scrobbling:

Swayzak - Pineapple Spongecake from album Himawari

But in the library it appears as:

Swayzak - Pineapple Spongecake from album Some Swayzak Selections

    Also I am scrobbling:

Groove Armada - Paris from album Soundboy Rock
Groove Armada - Lightsonic from album Soundboy Rock
Groove Armada - Soundboy Rock from album Soundboy Rock
and maybe some others from the album

But in the library it appears as non-album tracks.

Please fix it. Soundboy Rock is the album of my life and I can't scrobble it for over a year.

I take it you've deleted those scrobbles then as those albums appear ok in your library here and here.

So long as you have the album field correctly entered in your music files the scrobbles should get associated correctly.

  • Yea, I delete every single wrong scrobble because proper library is my mission :) Well, I scrobbled a few moments ago:

Swayzak - Pineapple Spongecake from album Himawari

and it appeared in library as

Swayzak - Pineapple Spongecake from album Some Swayzak Selections

Check here and here and here.

I also scrobbled three previously mentioned tracks from Soundboy Rock. Here I noticed some progress: Paris and Soundboy Rock were scrobbled correctly however problem with Lightsonic persists although in all albums overiview it seems everything is fine. But it is not. Check here vs here.

Believe me, there is nothing wrong with my tags. Proper library is my obsession :)

  • Also, I tried different rips, computers and players. Nothing changed.

Are you using MusicBrainz ID's in your tags? If so either the tags might be wrong, or we have the wrong MBID's associated with an album. Can you remove them and try again if so?

  • Here we go. Swayzak's Pineapple Spongecake contained following musicbrainz metadata:

MUSICBRAINZ ALBUM ARTIST ID: 2d91695d-a291-49d4-a028-2584edbf9bd6 (page @ mb)
MUSICBRAINZ ALBUM ID: 510bb4e3-d514-484a-a52e-8fec02edf692 (page @ mb)
MUSICBRAINZ ARTIST ID: 2d91695d-a291-49d4-a028-2584edbf9bd6 (page @ mb)
    MUSICBRAINZ_TRACKID: 9c742f38-2df5-4b85-bf51-1ee746274224 (page @ mb)
MUSICIP PUID: 4e8d2194-9009-e8d1-033f-d6fb7fbf0e9a (page @ mb)

After deleting musicbrainz metadata, track got scrobbled correctly. But I still wonder what is wrong with these IDs because it fits. And others tracks on the album contains same metadata (except of TrackID and PUID, of course) and they are scrobbled correctly.

Proceeding to Groove Armada. First of all, I tried to scrobble whole album now and every track was scrobbled correctly to album Soundboy Rock in my library. However I was looking after any musicbrainz metadata for sure and there was:

    DISCID: BC0E3A0F (page @ mb)

So I also wonder what was wrong because this is also correct. Issue with Soundboy Rock was really confusing and long-term (more than a year). Sometimes there were scrobbled as non-album 5 tracks, sometime 3 or 4. Yesterday it was just Lightsonic. Today is the first time since 2010 when everything is fine.

  • And it's back again. I re-scrobbled Soundboy Rock's tracks Paris, Save My Soul and From The Rooftops. And they are scrobbled as non-abum: here vs here.

All musicbrainz metada were deleted. They are tagged only with artist, title, album, year, track and genre. Now what?

  • Since no one has responded, I kept on trying. Yesterday, I deleted From The Rooftops, than added musicbrainz metadata for the album Soundboy Rock (id 02814ccf-042f-47ac-acd0-36a5855d783f) to mp3 tag of this song. I scrobbled this track again but nothing changed. From The Rooftops is missing in my library under the album Soundboy Rock as well as previously mentioned tracks Paris and Save My Souls (here vs here).

    Anyone can fix this?

The problem there is that we don't do album corrections. Those scrobbles are being attributed to this album in your library. The necessary artist/track level corrections are in place hence why they appear under Groove Armada in your library.

This won't be fixed until we can do album corrections. Sadly this is a large, complicated problem, one that can only be solved after we've dealt with artist disambiguation.

  • So this is where these tracks mysteriously disappeared! Funny to see I have in my library an artist I didn't even scrobble :)

Yea, whole library concept is one big problem. Through the years, I had a lot of ideas how to improve it. Mistakes in the library I couldn't rescrobble (sometimes it was hundreds of plays of wrong album names) was the reason I deleted my previous 150k+ plays account. It's pity that Last.fm presents more and more social-features instead of solving this issue. However I understand the 100% accurate stats miss required fun-factor. At least for avarage user, your prior focus.

Well, last question. Can I continue scrobbling these tracks and hope one day they will reapper in the album Soundboy Rock where they belong? Or will I have to rescrobble them in the future?

Is there any headway being made on artist disambiguation then Knapster?

  • Still waiting for the answer. Also, I realized I am unable to scrobble this track from this album. The track is displayed only in recently played at Last.fm scrobbler application in Windows but never on web page.

    Proof:
img will be deleted till the end of February 2012

Mother of god. Even if track title is correct. Anyway, thank you.

    And this?

Once album corrections are possible (no guarantees that's happening anytime soon) yes we should be able to correct these scrobbles.

@dankine: We're at a planning stage, there is a lot to consider, for example the database schema we use won't currently support disambiguation. We don't yet know how long it will take. :)

  • Thank you for your patience and time.

  • This has randomly started happening to an increasing amount of my scrobbles. It's just started out of nowhere.

  • An increasing number of my scrobbles are being attributed to Unknown Album even though the tags are correct in my music folder.

  • Happens to me, too.

    Miles Davis - Dolores
    Miles Davis - Footprints

They're from the album "Miles Davis/Miles Smiles", and although I tagged the whole album via same tag editor, these two tracks mysteriously goes to" Miles Davis;Herbie Hancock/Miles Smiles" album.

Please refer to my earlier post regarding lack of album corrections at the moment.
