    Yes

It's a festival. Music makes up a big part of it, but not all of it. You go to have a great time. In my eyes the line-up isn't bad at all, maybe not as great as last year but with the likes of The Prodigy, Bloc Party and Placebo I wouldn't want to miss out.

4-5 years ago it was strictly about the music, thats when every man and his dog didnt attend the shocker. Its been abused by the UK's population, all thinking their attending a landmark event, all thinking they're witnessing something of an historic event. Its very sad to see for the original Leeds goers, i really do feel for them.

I'm coming all the way from israel "for the music" cause no one good ever comes here (if the mountain doesn't come to mohamed, mohamed will come to the mountain).

  • I wouldn't pay all that money solely to sit in a field and drink. I can do that on the field around the corner for free.

  • The lineup this year is pretty crap compared with last year so I'm not really going "for the music" :P

    innit, Wayne Hyman

  • You know most people get their tickets pretty much as soon as the line up is announced, they purchase tickets in the hope that bands they want to see are playing - it's not always a case of buying tickets for the music, it's a case of buying tickets and hoping for the music you want.

Granted I'll give you that getting tickets is a pain in the arse now, and camping is a joke as there just isn't enough space and there is a SMALL majority that go for a piss up - but not everyone.

  • My parents have been going for as long as I can remember, but they stopped going as they noticed a change with more young people going, I first went when I was 13 with my parents and I enjoyed it more than I do going with my friends, I'm 19 now. But I definitely go for the music, Radiohead is my all time favourite band and they're amazing live - I wouldn't miss an opportunity to see them again.

girl called foo: exactly! you buy tickets as soon as they come out, because they always sell out. so you buy them in hope that someone you love will be announced later on. if not..ebay? ha. its never gonna be a complete wash out though, there inevitably will be someone there who you do like.

If you buy a ticket for Leeds and there's NO ONE there you like then you're a fucking idiot and deserve to die!

I agree with 'a fucking idiot who deserve to die' being a good description of people who buy tickets just cos it's the in-thing. SO MANY people at school have done it this year, proper winds me up because they've taken tickets off people who would have killed for a ticket because of the music.

It's a music festival at the end of the day, if you don't like the music, don't go. Get pissed in a tent with your friends in the park for free.

I like pretty much all of the music :)

  • Yeah thinking about how much money it would cost to buy separate tickets for separate gigs, I'm defiantly going to Leeds for the music. Doesn't mean I'm not looking forward to the piss up though either :D

    Yep

It's a music festival, of course I'm going for the music. This years line up is just as strong as before (apart from the inevitable KOL =\). However, sitting in a tent pissed is just part of thee fun that comes with it haha

  • 'if you're not going for the music you're taking a ticket off someone who wants to go, go and get pissed in the park for free'

no. i bought my ticket on presale cause i had an awesome time last year. my friends got tickets in march. on the line-up there is two bands i WILL see, three i probably will, so most of MY weekend will just be about having a laugh. however, my friends have a different music taste to me and they are excited to see bands i couldn't care about. i don't want to miss out on a few weekend with loads of my friends, we will all of course be seeing bands, but if we don't see that many, so what? more room for everyone else. we'll still have had a great 5 days.

personally i'm going for the music, but i know i'll have a great time aswell.

although if people want to go mostly just to drink and have a good time with their mates ('long as they aint spoiling it for anyone else) i dont see a problem in that, their choice.

  • i'm cool with dickheads as long as they aren't trying to rob my tent or set me on fire. i'm seeing about 15 bands this year and that's worth it in my opinion. along with the gin and cigarette binge to boot.

    Expensive?

Okay so in one chunk it looks like a lot .. £182 I think it was + B.F.

But if you actually do want to go for the music, try adding up the average separate-gig price of the bands you'd see if they played in your city/town... You'll realise its actually damn good value!

Anyways, for me it's in the music... Radiohead, K.O.L., Bloc Party, Rise Against, Alexisonfire, Jack's Mannequin, Billy Talent; seriously the only thing that pisses me off is that I have to miss bands to see bands! I'm too indecisive!

Friday could be a lot better, maybe I'll spend the day getting my weekend's alcohol intake up to a suitable level before I cream over Rise Against...

    \e/ _Weeeeee I can't wait!

    Sheldon-
