Y'know i really wish there was a festival where i had at LEAST five bands i wanted to see but alas that day is yet to come. I usually go for just one band. ONE AMAZING band..usually. At the Fuck Yeah Fest that band was....The Strange Boys. Missing them the uh..four times they came last year was devastating...i had reasons..i did. Anyways...the fest. It was....fun. Going in early...2..3...4..it was bright outside but as soon as you got in to the echoplex it was night and had all the good things that a night out had. Music, drunks, talking, y'know. I went straight in and straight out spent a good while at the park drinking, smoking walking back to the echo my friend and i met Frank. A pretty damm good guitarist who was playing later at the rec room for the fest...very lucky. Well we went inside the echo and there they were The Strange Boys. They were i mean...sigh...great. Lead guitar sounded so clear and so close. The vocals were just....perfect. …

I only went this year to see Glass Candy and High Places. Some people said the volume of the vocals were far too low for High Places but it was still a phenomenal set. Then Glass Candy came on and that's when things get a little fuzzy for me. I'm embarassed to say I jumped on stage twice and was kicked out of the echoplex!

After that I bummed around the other shows alone but that wasn't so bad since I was wasted and sociable.

If last week's Sunset Junction Festival and this week's F Yeah festival were siblings, the former would be the older, more sexually experienced sibling. The latter festival would the younger, more precocious and wide-eyed sibling. Although the younger sibling may want to grow up as soon as possible, there is a certain charm to its youth. Only at F Yeah can one watch Austin, Texas’ Best Fwends in a tiny annex while standing next to cheery Matt Johnson of Brooklyn’s Matt and Kim, and later, moshing with Jonathan Gray of L.A.’s The Mae Shi. This would not be happening on Sunset Junction’s watch. Welcome to the fifth year of F Yeah Fest, curated by Sean Carlson and Keith Morris. Although this year’s festival suffered a huge setback when a financial backer pulled out at the last minute (they are over $15,000 in debt), Carlson and the crew decided to just make it a one-day event instead of canceling it altogether. …

Way too packed. I mainly stayed in the Echoplex. My favorite act for the night was Glass Candy. Their beats sounded so good loud & distorted. Fucked Up was also a lot of fun.

It was stupid seeing young kids smoking just to want to look older. Lots of obviously rich kids, who were annoying. The whole scene at it was generally stupid.

Here's who I got to see (in order):
    Mika Miko
    Japanther
    Fucked Up
    Strange Boys
    Negative Approach (Fucking intense!)
    High Places
    Glass Candy
Matt & Kim (fun stuff for the kids)
No Age (left early in the set because I was dead tired.)

I'm just glad that I didn't pay to get in.
