As an introduction to this year's Blackfield Festival exothermal, his girlfriend and I were visiting the
Blackfield Warm-Up at Zeche Carl in Essen. This was mainly because of
Seabound being on stage there - we hadn't seen them live yet.
The evening started with
Soman - a rather technoid sounding one-man-show. Alas, it wasn't much of a show: Just one guy with a MacBook pressing keys and pushing buttons on stage. The music was actually quite dancable but nothing out of the ordinary and certainly nothing that would make a great live show.
Continuing with
Absurd Minds the evening got better. Their performance was quite pleasing although they had a bit of a hard time to get the audience dancing and clapping their hands. It was quite evident that everyone was waiting for Seabound. But anyhow, they delivered a solid show - the addition of ex-
Haujobb Daniel Myer for the last few tracks was a nice surprise as well.
As a first for Seabound they were headlining the evening. …
