MFVF 6 - Where have all the people gone?

Yesterday (Sunday) was a good day for me. Shining sun, a good lunch, and then I’m off to the Metal Female Voices Fest VI. Being a bit tired of melodic/gothic female-fronted metal at the moment, I did not go to the Saturday event (which, apparently, had a good turnout; I was told the venue was packed for the show of Epica - good for them then!). I chose to keep my forces for the Sunday event, which was the day of “girls with balls” (or unshaved armpits - or both). No dark velvet, no frilly dresses, no elaborate make-ups or hairdos; on Sunday, the focus would be on music.

With a very varied line-up mixing thrash, death and heavy metal with a good dose of hard rock, the whole event looked very promising to me as I am open to all these genres. I guessed that this fact, coupled to the cancellations of both headliners would mean a low turnout, though, but it didn’t distress me as I thought it would give me a good opportunity to stand close to the stage.

Sat 18 Oct – Metal Female Voices Fest VI

This was my second time in the MFVF.
This time I wanted to be there early and watch the first band Markize. But the heavy traffic in the highway killed my plans. I was still able to see the last two songs.
Unless last year, I have to say neither of the bands impressed me. All of them matched my expectations. The goods ones were good, the less good ones did not change my mind. Just a remark for Diablo Swing Orchestra which I did not know apart from two tracks.
Atargatis was my first favourite on the stage, and YES a great 5 for them.
Edenbridge proved the opinion I had before. The music is good but all tracks sound the same. Too tedious. It is nice to listen to once, but not more.
Asrai, another of my favourites, were Ok but not impressive.
Due to the same heavy traffic which annoyed me in the morning, also Middnatsol was caught in the highway and they did not arrive in time to play. This was the big MINUS of the day. I really love them and I was anxious to watch them.
