Beschreibung

Future Music Festival promised a “blockbuster” bill for 2014 and sure enough, the cast they’ve assembled for next year’s festival tour is a sight to behold. The national festival – which hits Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide and Perth from the beginning of March – are calling next year’s line-up their biggest to date, and we’re inclined to agree.

At the top of the bill is a name dance fans have been hanging out for: Deadmau5 will finally be making his Australian return, bringing his famed live show with him (there’s no word on whether it will be the new live show he’s developing for 2014 or something from his existing repertoire, but consider us very excited either way). It’ll be the first time the production heavyweight’s been to Australia since 2011, and the first time with his new LP > album title goes here < was released. But the mau5 isn’t the only major coup Future have pulled off. Just as the man himself hinted, elusive Swede Eric Prydz is locked in to make his very first trip to Australia with FMF.

But it doesn’t stop there. Alongside chart-topping names like Macklemore & Ryan Lewis and Frenchies Phoenix is Dutch young gun Hardwell, “seizure music” duo Knife Party, London four-piece Rudimental, bass thumpers Chase & Status, British dynamo Sub Focus, Harlem Shake sensation Baauer, US pro Kaskade and crowd favourite Porter Robinson, to cherry-pick just a few.

Techno fans are well catered to this year, too. Sven Vath will be back for the sixth year running and will be joined by the “jet-black, polished techno” of Dubfire, the ever-faultless Maya Jane Coles, techno mastermind Paul Kalkbrenner and much-loved renegade Guy Gerber. FMF have also locked in a certain Parisian duo: yes, kings of Gallic cool Brodinski and Gesaffelstein will both be here in March, with Gesaffelstein bringing his as-yet-unpreviewed live show to Australia for the first time. Trance devotees, too, are sitting pretty: 2014 will bring Paul van Dyk, Markus Schulz and ATB out.

On the logistics front, Future have pledged that their sound quality will be first-rate in 2014. “The festival will also have a major focus on enhanced, state of the art audio and will deliver spine-tingling light shows and crystal clear sound, using new technologies such as audio mapping,” the promoters announced. “In 2014 each and every punter will soak up their favourite artists loud and clear, no matter what stage they’re performing on or where they’re dancing.”

In addition, both the Adelaide and Brisbane events will be moving to new venues with new indoor and outdoor stages, so punters can party rain, hail or shine; while FMF’s Sydney home of Randwick Racecourse will be getting a major facelift before the festival hits town. Gape at the full line-up below, and note that tickets go on sale from Tuesday October 1 through the Future website for $155+BF a pop.
