Stimul Festival @ Archa Divadlo

Organizers of the alternative music festival Stimul really managed to hit
a cutting-edge spot. They have created probably the largest music poster
ever in the Czech Republic. The poster was being made in the street as an
arts installation and performance at the same time. Its total surface is
96m2 and the resulting photo is Stimul´s visual this year. The first
concert, featuring Nurse With Wound (UK), is starting on 30th April 2010
at the Archa Theatre in Prague.

The poster, drawn partially with chalk, is a piece made by the artists
Jiří Franta and Marek Meduna, members of the Rafani artist group. The
loudspeaker is summoning all fans of non-conventional music into action on
the surface of 12 x 8 metres. „We wanted to create something that has no
precedent in the history of Czech music posters“, explains Jan Vávra,
festival´s director. The „living poster“ was being made on the 2nd April
on a pavement in Prague´s Holešovice, and its completion lasted about
three hours.

The continuous Stimul festival which brings the most important
personalities of alternative and experimental music for the 6th year now
has opened the 2010 edition in a grand style: after the hip-hop bash
Anti-Pop Consortium, April and May in Prague´s Archa Theatre will present
(in Czech premieres!) the post-industrial legends Nurse With Wound, the
Canadian breakcore king Venetian Snares, and probably the biggest stars of
contemporary noise scene, Wolf Eyes. These four spring eves of Stimul
festival, grasped in an extraordinary way, attempt to convince its
visitors of this event´s emblematic motto: Experiment is future
mainstream!
