Bourdain, really? That's an inspired choice if I've ever heard one. I have a few longshots in mind.. E6 was one that a lot of people have been mentioning, and from talking to some people in a few bands ATP may have approached certain people about curating so I wouldn't be shocked if it was them. Gira was another name that got thrown around a bit. I think a Cap'n Jazz/Kinesella curated event would be fun.. Or maybe Kathleen Hannah.... I'm really hoping friday gets The Soft Bulletin as a don't look back... Since DJ, Deerhoof, and the Lips are all performing for about $60 USD/person I think that it would be in the price range for NY(Iggy/Suicide in London cost about $40, and Iggy apparently ate up a lot of the friday budget this year)

Also, of course, Godspeed would be very welcome to curate ATP stateside. I wonder if they'd be up for curating two ATPs in the same year. I guess My Bloody Valentine did it, but I feel like the fine folks of GY!BE are much busier since they're all involved with so many other projects.

I don't know if anyone else is still checking this page, but where else can I speculate about potential curators for next year? I really like the suggestion of an Elephant Six curated event that a few people were throwing around before Jim Jarmusch was announced. Also, I know this could probably never happen, but I think it would be really cool to see Anthony Bourdain curate. I'm sure he would pick some great bands, and maybe he could even pick the food vendors (just as long as he brings back Asiadogs). Or I'd even be happy with JJ returning, since I'm still clinging to the idea of seeing Tom Waits and/or Neil Young at Kutshers.

'anyone checked out Barry Hogan's guest dj spot on WFMU? I know it's way after the fact...but thinking forward, he played something by a new group called CULTS, so maddeningly catchy! bring 'em on for next year!!

i haven't notice any bitching about food costs at all. i thought it was a perfect setup. the addition of coffee was an excellent idea. and i was surprisingly impressed by the bbq that i grabbed to reinforce my system right before ALTAR. if anyone remembers the name of that bbq, please let it be known. 'would cross state lines for more of that pulled pork!

Alright, everyone, listen up: no moshing during Explosions in the Sky next time. Thank you.

If I haven't mentioned it...I had a blast. I'll be back next year, for sure. That was too good of a time. I have no idea why people are bitching about food costs. I thought it was VERY reasonable for a festival. Hell, there was even competition. One guy was selling water for $3, another for $2, and another for $1.50 (or you could just bring your own). Also, that may be the first show I have EVER been to where the security was cool. Down to the last person, all very friendly and smiley, rather than doing the "swinging dick" thing.

yeah, wasn't sure but suspected atp ny was probably more fun than the rest. so many amazing things going on all day, in such close proximity to one another. can't imagine anything like being handed a cup of mint chocolate chip ice cream on the way in to participate in a demon summoning session with Boris and Sunn00))) happening anywhere else! MistaSparkle: i did catch the book(s) reading; a great way to ease into sunday, and just long enough. still have about 25 pages to go of Invention... and Lowlife sounded like essential reading.

i ran into the dude from apse and he said there was nothing like the kutschers experience. also my "worst case" involves me shelling out money i don't have to go overseas - i need atp to stay in the states. and i think atp needs me.

I did the same thing lorddeathman, there was no other ATP references in the other ATP NY thank yous, so I'm not worrying about it. Worst case I'll go to Butlins but I've heard that is nowhere near as fun as ATP NY from several people

just read the thank you's at the website. my paranoia over this has gotten me freaked out over the line "we hope to see you all again soon at another ATP" -- why not 'see you at atpny next year'?' -- but it's probably innocent enough. in fact, i dug back to the 'thank you' after 09's event and there wasn't anything refering to any future ATP at all in that one. Still, if it doesn't happen again next year at Kutshers, i may just have myself a good long cry.

ATP really does have to come back to NY. there isn't a single festival goer or press review who disagreed that it was a life changing experience. ATP NY is the hardest thing on earth to leave, and the fact that it finally sold out means that it's finally definitely a financially viable thing for them to do. As far as the 3 years in advance thing, while I don't doubt that they do plan the idea well in advance, but that means that they had 3 ATPs planned leading up to MBV and nixed the idea right after. Also Jim was selected as curator after 2009 ATP and the 09 dates even moved early after the announcement.. I think the well-in-advance planning can be flexible. Fuck that's good art
