    After seeing Explosions In The Sky, Pelican, and Russian Circles, I knew that instrumental post-rock shows were extremely thought-provoking, and mind blowing. I had heard many stories about Sigur Rós’ live performances, and everything I heard was that they were nothing less than incredible. They weren’t wrong. At the group’s sold-out show at the Greek Theatre in Berkeley, it was astonishing.

    The night began with a band called Parachutes. Along with Sigur Rós, they are also from Iceland, and are friends with the band. They began their set with their trombone player walking quietly on stage, with a loop pedal, creating a gorgeous short piece while the rest of the band took to the stage. The band sound extremely similar to Sigur Rós, and it is clear that the band has influenced them in their sound. Despite the band having eight members, the sound or the performance wasn’t overwhelming. I could feel the goosebumps prickle along my arms, and felt a rush run up my spine. …
