May 28th 2008 – finally, my next Maxïmo Park gig, February 1st felt like ages ago!
Maxïmo Park put up a charity event for the Royal Mardsen Hospital (http://www.royalmarsden.nhs.uk/rmh) and the No Surrender Charitable Trust (http://www.justgiving.com/nosurrender) as a fire damaged the hospital back in January while Jason Boas, a good friend of the band, was treated there. The No Surrender Charitable Trust raises money especially for young adults who have been diagnosed with cancer. So it was a chance not only to see my favourite band again, but also to do something for a good cause.
We (Katja, Doro, Doris and myself) headed to the Forum quite early (around 2.30pm), but there were already about 16 people in line. We sat down, tried to catch some tunes of the soundcheck through the doors (I could only recognise “Books from boxes” at one point) and waited and waited and waited… Katja and I went down to Camden Town to get something to eat…
