Wow, I'm still not quite sure what to say about this show aside from: according to some vain list I keep, Silver Mt. Zion is the 294th band I have seen live and right now they are in contention for one of the most emotionally invested I've ever found myself at a show. The crowd was iffy, and yeah, I knew the cane girl and I was annoyed too. Too many drunks who couldn't keep their mouths shut, but the music. My god man.
I walked in as Dead Science was closing out in an unimpressive fashion. Josh Abrams setup and really blew me away. They did one big, looping jam. It was interesting because they started out with a riff that no one seemed to like at all, and I was prepared to spend most of my time waiting for it to be over, but then something clicked and it took off. In parts it reminded me of Animal Collective or Battleswith a more jazz influence. It was also interesting to see the guitar and bass settling for being the rhythm section…
