Cloud Boat

Occupying the nocturnal space between the poignant maximalism of Tim Buckley and the codeine beats of Mount Kimbie, Cloud Boat are slowly but surely carving out a distinctive path for themselves as purveyors of gorgeous, shattered-heart soul bar none.

They released their debut album, Book Of Hours, on R&S/Apollo in 2013, continuing the label’s lineage of classic, experimental records from the likes of Aphex Twin, Maark Van Hoen and Biosphere. For what can be described as electronic music, the album is a delicate, intimate affair, a beautifully sustained exercise in mood and tension and far more precious a record than most others right now. It has been widely praised by critics, with Dummy making it their Album Of The Week and Clash calling it ‘among the year’s most accomplished debuts’.

Live, the band come into their own, with the quieter moments rendered more intimate, and the loud moments becoming all the more visceral. They have recently tour supported James Blake and Ghostpoet.

This year sees the band return with a brand new album Model Of You, due for
release on 7th July 2014.

Face + Heel

Face + Heel, aka Luke Taylor and Sinead McMillan, started working together in 2012 and have been gaining plaudits over the last year for the excellent No Stars EP on Warm Records and their self released Chipped Tooth EP.

They’ve already supported artists such as Blondes, Matthew Dear, Orbital, NZCA/Lines, Portico Quartet, AlunaGeorge and oOoOO in the last 18 months, and have tucked away some superb festival shows under their belts at the Great Escape, Lovebox, Garden Festival, L.E.V, and Simple Things.

Having been tipped by the Boiler Room founders as the ones to watch after their acclaimed live set back in April 2013 the band have the sights set on conquering 2014.

“They manage to combine delicate piano and vocals with deep synths and rhythmic elements of house and garage to create ambitious and thoughtful live electronica.” – Crack Magazine

--------------

Dead Crow Pirates

Birmingham collective Dead Crow Pirates started making music in the hazy summer of 2013. Their debut EP Bluebeard lends a hypnotic blend of earthy acoustics and mellow vocals over samples of lazy waves and smouldering fires, and has been met with popular acclaim by critics.

As well as a number 5 spot on iTunes’ Alternative New Releases chart in 2014, Dead Crow Pirates have been tipped as ones to watch by several prominent music blogs. Follow up EP Hope is set for launch on Sunday 5th October at Hare & Hounds, Birmingham.

“Harbouring an understated brilliance, indulge in Dead Crow Pirates” – Dots & Dashes.
