Sometimes things don't make sense, but that's OK... Whether solo or as a cog in bands PONYTAIL and ECSTATIC SUNSHINE, guitarist Dustin Wong likes to push the sonic envelope. Balancing composition and waves of experimentation, WONG expands on the capacity of what can be done with a few pedals and a guitar on Meditation of Ecstatic Energy, his 2013 release on Thrill Jockey. The album is the conclusion of a trilogy that began with 2010’s Infinite Love and continued with 2012's Dreams Say, View, Create, Shadow Leads, each record created in solitude with ten fingers, two feet, and his endless imagination. All three albums have led to a steadily growing fan base and critical acclaim from outlets like FADER, who said of Dreams Say, “It’s not that he’s the only dude creating hypnotic loops of complex guitar finger work, but he is definitely one of the best.” We’re excited to once again host the self-described “bear of a gay rapper” Big Dipper, a former Chicagoan who now calls New York City home. Known throughout the country for his playful antics, catchy beats, smart lyricism and humor, Big Dipper “makes everyone wanna shake their ass and bounce their dicks.” It's true, it's true -- we've seen such antics before from Big Dipper, in the flesh... LUKE TOKYO DRIFTER FEAT. SEXUAL SEAN is the solo, experimental project of KENNY from MAGIC MILK, TODAY'S HITS, THE LEMONS, etc. In his own words: "All of the recordings are made in my van while I drive around and feature my friends, band mates and even people walking by while I’m stopped at a light or something." It's pretty ridiculous, probably dangerous and, sonically, trippy and disorienting, but we dig this new direction he's taking things. Now if we can only figure out a way to get the Magic Milk Van inside the club for the show...
