ABOUT FRANKMUSIK:
Frankmusik (AKA Vincent James Turner) first zoomed into public view in 2007 when the self taught piano prodigy began to release the songs he had written, produced and sung on MySpace. His distinctive, dizzying cocktail of helter skelter beats, soaring pop melodies and ecstatic electronica quickly won him a devoted army of online fans. The wider public was introduced to his startling talent through his first EP – “Frankisum” – which featured two instant pop classics, in “3 Little Words” and “Confusion Girl”. Island Records quickly signed him and the BBC named him as a pop star to watch in their prestigious “Sound of 2009” poll.

That year saw the release of his gorgeous debut album, “Complete Me”, co-produced by Stuart Price and hitting the UK Top 20. As well as spawning three hit singles, the album surprised fans with its emotional depth and musical range. As well as dancefloor blitzes like “In Step” and “Better Off As Two”, the album also featured heartbroken electronica like “Done Done” and fragile ballads like “Run Away From Trouble”, a fan favourite. Yahoo praised “the deft, slippery musical textures underneath the gleaming pop surface, and the aching emotional fragility that underpins even the most disco-glitzy tunes” while The Guardian praised Frankmusik’s “unerring melodic instincts”.

2009 also saw Frankmusik flexing his production muscles, with a long queue of the pop world’s hottest talents forming to ask him for collaborations and remixes. By the end of the year he’d worked with Lady Gaga, Pet Shop Boys, Ellie Goulding and a host of other talents. He’d also been signed up by sharp-eyed talent-spotter Perez Hilton for his first big tour in the states.

His adventures in the states inspired the restless Frankmusik in his next bold move – in 2010 he relocated to LA, determined to learn from the hottest pop talents of the day who were at work there. He was quickly snapped up by Cherrytree Records and head honcho Martin Kierszenbaum, fresh from his success as co-writer on much of Lady Gaga’s breakthrough album. The resulting 2011 album – “Do It In The A.M.” – saw Frankmusik embrace a more collaborative approach, writing with Kierszenbaum and collaborating with Far East Movement (fresh off a US number 1), Collette Carr and Natalia Kills. The album was praised by The Independent for its “refinement” of his sound, though some fans felt that its glossier production and slicker vocals had sacrificed some of his distinctiveness.

In the same year, Frankmusik fulfilled a lifelong ambition by producing the latest album by his childhood idols Erasure and touring with them across the USA and Europe. The album became the seminal electro duo’s biggest hit in a decade, while reviewers praised his production for giving the act new zest, with Popmatters noting how he “pushed the duo’s music to sound more contemporary.”

2012 saw yet more change for Frankmusik. After increasing frustrations with both his record label and fiancé, Vincent parted ways with both. Out of these lows, Frankmusik’s best music began to emerge. The last part of the year saw the electro auteur release his swaggering single “Fast As I Can” – demonstrating his ability to produce his own music independently – but it was a return to London that inspired his most exciting musical era yet.

Combining the more accomplished production techniques and confident vocals learnt in LA with the hyperactive fizz of his earliest songs, the “Far From Over” EP – released on Valentine’s Day 2013 – was greeted ecstatically by fans and journalists alike. Perez Hilton led the charge, writing “FrankMusik is back and making music on his own terms… electro with HEART!” while Bang Tidy Music called the EP “one massive explosion of awesome.”

The EP once again showcased Frankmusik’s versatility, shifting from the breathlessly paced electropop of “Captain” to the epic piano ballad “The Line”. But it was lead single “Map” which grabbed most attention. As Notable Dance wrote, “the lovely discordant feel of blending emotionally stirring symphonic production for the verses with frantic electropop for the chorus is a kind of brilliant madness” and fans as surprising as Natasha Bedingfield lined up to pronounce the song “totally brilliant”.

Frankmusik has spent the first few months of the UK’s coldest and longest winter in decades safely holed up in his bedroom studio, painstakingly crafting every note of his forthcoming third record, “Between”, which promises to be his most ambitious, accomplished and exciting yet. As well as “Fast As I Can”, “Captain” and “Map” the album will feature eleven new songs solely written and produced by the electro auteur. The songs range from glorious day glo pop like “Cake!” and summery singalongs like “Did Love” to moody electro ballads like the gorgeous “Final Song” and gospel-tinged “Pins And Needles”. New single “Chasing Shadows” sees Frankmusik take a bold step into new territory: its shimmeringly atmospheric, slow burning electronica is utterly unique and heart-stopping.
