Kompakt Records presents

Over the last 14 years Kompakt has carved out a brand of electronic music that embraces electronica, minimal techno and pop. The label has helped shape the future of world techno with its own distinctive style, and the name has become synonymous with adventurous, forward thinking electronic music. With that in mind Corsica Studios is delighted to welcome the Cologne based imprint for a new series of label showcases starting this spring.

For their first visit to Corsica Studios, Kompakt have set their stall out with a forward thinking line-up of acts comprised from the heart of the roster. Travelling from Germany to head the bill we warmly welcome Robag Wruhme. Previously of the Wighomy Brothers, Robag got a taste for hip-hop and early electronica growing up in Communist East Germany, but these days he is better known for his eclectic blend of deep house, minimal techno and jazz.

Next up, a man that needs little introduction, Sascha Funke. In 1989 Sascha began listening to euro-dance-pop, and following the purchase of his first record „Technotronic Mega Mix,“ his thirst for musical exploration was set. As a dj Sascha produces and plays the kind of techno that sways between the polarity of emotional overload and concrete rationale.

Rounding things off from Kompakt in Room 1 we have Terranova AKA Fetisch. Over the years Fetisch has spent time in New York, London and Brussels resulting in a unique take on electronic music. He spent his teenage nights immersed in New York’s club scene, where his career as a DJ began.  After a stint in London and a recording debut alongside Stereo MCs he moved to Berlin in the mid nineties, where Terranova’s first compilation was released as a part of the now legendary !K7 DJ Kicks series.

Visuals on the night come courtesy of Kompakt’s very own AV expert, Okinawa 69. Not just a VJ but also an exhibiting artist throughout Europe, and last but not least in Room 1, Matt Sawyer of the Acid Casuals collective and Som Bom records will fill the gaps.
 
In Room 2, proceedings have been handed over to the once Glasgow now London based party peddlers Huntleys & Palmers, who will be taking the opportunity to launch their label’s next release from guest Alejandro Paz. The Chilean producer first came to the attention of H&P via a track, which was included in a mix by Diegors, of Cómeme fame. That track was called ‘Callejero’ and they still can’t get it out of their heads. Billed as the ‘Latin Township Funk’ it will be released in March and what better way to celebrate than with a launch party starring two of our favorite artists; Matias Aguayo and Auntie Flo. 

Matias Aguayo is one of the most talented, exciting and unique producers in electronic music right now. He is responsible for the amazing Cómeme imprint, and over the years has introduced the world to the likes of Rebolledo, Daniel Maloso, Diegors, DJs Pareja and Ana Helder. His own productions on Kompakt and Soul Jazz span a host of genres and influences and permeate a healthy doze of fun, which lacks in the work of many of his peers. In addition to his productions, his live DJ set is one of the best we’ve seen taking in live vocals, percussion and groove in abundance.

In 2011 Auntie Flo had a very impressive year. With two sell out releases under his belt, his fan base has grown quickly, and now boasts the likes of Ricardo Villalobos, Andrew Weatherall, Caribou and more. Beyond that, a smashing live show and an RA championed mix; Auntie Flo’s arrival has been triumphant!
