SLAM (Save Live Australian Music) Day

On 23rd February 2010, the SLAM (Save Live Australian Music) rally saw 20,000 people march through Melbourne in protest against the Victorian Government’s misguided policy link between live music and violence. The SLAM rally was the largest cultural protest in Australia’s history.


Now all of Australia has the opportunity to participate in a national event that celebrates our local musicians in our small venues.

Enter The Annandale Hotel.

Owners, The Rule Brothers, launched their Buy-A-Brick (BAB) Campaign to an incredible response late 2011. Bricks are being sold left right and centre with money going towards a much needed upgrade and to further reduce the hotel’s debts.

The focal point on SLAM Day will be on the hotel’s BAB Campaign with the first round of plaques being mounted. Packages will be for sale on the night also. Everyone is welcome.

The Annandale team want to make loyal supporters feel they have a place here at The Annandale in the future. By offering them different packages which include a ‘brick’ with a plaque mounted on it, with their personal inscription, they are forever connected.

For the hotel owners it really is now or never. They know it is not just personal to them it is personal to a lot of people.

The Buy-A-Brick campaign is about gathering people together to save one of Australia’s most beloved rock venues. It is about reminding people how important it is, what it means to them as an
individual and what it has done for hundreds and hundreds of artists.
