Various Vegetables #2: Ed Devane, Swarm Intelligence, Léel & Amber126

After an amazing launch party, we are happy to announce the second edition to our monthly series.

This time, we will host two floors, one ambient for relaxing and listening in a chilled atmosphere, and the basement for some serious dance action. We invited Irish musicia…n Ed Devane, Berlin-based Swarm Intelligence, harpist L√©el and our friend Amber126 to make you move your mind and feet.


Beside our lovely guests, the Various Vegetables residents Eutechnik, Kinskop, Vodor L Zeck and Vertical67 will bring a feast of live electronics, from ambient to house, trip-hop, jungle and electro.

Ed Devane

After years of programming sequencers to make music, collaborations with the John Mary Trilogy and later FYED have nudged Devane’s music to move away from the rigidly programmed dancefloor attacks to a more freestyle, improvised and live approach. Gradually Ed developed techniques, instruments and software for live performances. He has designed and built custom stringed instruments to suit his playing techniques which lead to more spontaneous composition and improvisation technique.

Ed Devane has had music released on a number of different labels since 2005. In 2008 Devane co-founded Second Square to None (SSTN), a gig promotion collective, label and music blog. In 2010 Ed kick started his public career as a sound artist with his Stop/Run instrument ensemble.

For us he will play two sets to represent the spectrum of his musical personality, one with homemade instruments on our ambient floor under his Withering Zithering moniker, and one in the basement as Ed Devane. Be prepared for the variety of V.

Léel

Léel will play the electronic harp for you, combining it with her voice to build a complex yet tranquil atmosphere throughout. She will be playing on our ambient floor, so sink into a couch and drift away.

Swarm Intelligence

Swarm Intelligence is Simon Stasis, a Dublin-born producer and DJ, currently living in Berlin. He makes bass-heavy break-filled music, mincing hardcore, dubstep, jungle, techno and electro into noisy jump-up vibes.

He also runs Stasis Records, is a conspiring force of the Skank parties in Berlin alongside Rory St. John and contributes articles and podcasts for Darkfloor.

Amber 126

Amber 126 is a long-time friend of the Various Kru, bringing a winning musical select, he will warm up the dancefloor in the basement for you.
