For Dirk Markham life is a musical journey on which he is constantly searching for new sounds, ways of manipulating and controlling them, and cheap keyboards from fleamarkets. Dirk Markham has been making experimental recordings and teaching himself every instrument he can get his hands on since his years studying mental philosophy at Edinburgh University in the late 90s. His music is mainly instrumental although occasionally the odd folk-rock song pops up out of nowhere.
Markham has been residing in Berlin for the last 7 years where he worked at Gudrun Gut’s indie label monika enterprise and where he is now part of the research and development team of Native Instruments. Dirk’s experience working in the music industry has fed into his own music and continues to be a source of inspiration. Besides his recent work with his electronic side-project The Hemulen Dirk has just released Vol. 6 in his ongoing and highly regarded Psycho-Acoustic Scultptures series.

Since reuniting the several pieces of himself to Peter Piek again in 2006, the Karl-Marx-City born songwriter, painter and multi-instrumentalist is trying to merge painting and music into a new form of being, too. His works include melodic large-format oils and picturesque songs set between euphoria and melancholy.
Peter Piek’s fast and rhytmic guitar tunes and his distinctive voice make him the unique artist that he is. On stage he likes to switch between strumming his guitar, plunking the piano, hitting the drums and reading from one of his so-called „art-fiction books“.
Peter Piek has been touring Europe and the US many times supporting bands like Art Brut, The Robocop Kraus, Matt Hopper and John Watts. He even played South by Southwest in Austin once.
Summer 2012 will see his third album on Solaris Empire (Broken Silence). Other than that he has also released a book called „Die Puppenspieler“ this year and his paintings often get displayed in national as well as international exhibitions.
