Sunderland has landed another major concert, as the Stadium of Light gets set to welcome one of the UKs biggest bands next summer.
Coldplay, who wowed Glastonbury in June, have announced a run of UK stadium dates in May and June of 2012.

Following the record-breaking global success of their No.1 album ‘Mylo Xyloto’, the band have already sold out their Dec 2011 tour and now added new dates for next year.
The show at Sunderland’s Stadium of Light will take place on Thursday 7 June 2012, with tickets on sale from 9am, Friday 18 November, 2011 (see below for full details).
„Mylo Xyloto“ hit the No. 1 spot in 32 countries after its release two weeks ago, including the UK and USA, it also reached No. 1 in all 35 iTunes stores around the world, breaking the record for the highest number of download sales in one week.
Sunderland AFC’s chief executive Margaret Byrne said: „To have established the Stadium of Light as one of the top music venues in the country in just three years is a fantastic achievement and testament to the hard work and dedication of our concerts team.
„To welcome a band of the profile of Coldplay, alongside our Red Hot Chili Peppers show, highlights how our reputation and ability to deliver is now widely recognised across the music industry.“
