Sat 25 Sep – Jukejoint Handmedowns (wsg Neato)
The Jukejoint boys took the stage on Saturday night for their first 'nightclub gig', after honing their act during the summer acoustically on the streets of Holland, and at the Grand Rapids Farmer's Market. A medium sized but wildly enthusiastic audience helped make up for the fact that the band had a late start due to a microphone snafu, and one of the voices hampered by a last minute head cold (nursed along with swigs of NyQuil from a hip flask). The band got through most of their planned 2 hour set, and, aside from some PA issues (the sooner the boys can get their own sound system and sound man, the better) the night was mostly a big success. 'Singalongs' seemed to be crowd favorites, and the supporting act ('Neato', a couple of young kids with guitars) was a nice pairing.
Looking forward to next weekend, where the band is planning two nights of 3 hour sets at two locations out at the lakeshore.
