The Key Arena should really get better dressing rooms, because at last night’s event the cartoon band Gorillaz got stuck in their dressing room and the warm up band was forced to play the entire set full of Gorillaz songs. It was okay though because the warm up band featured Damon Albarn, two former members of The Clash (Mick Jones and Paul Simonon), a whole brass section, and a slew of guests. They came out and played a strong set, heaving in “Plast Beach” songs but also featuring a surprising amount of tracks off “Demon Days” and the self titled “Gorillaz”.
Seeing Damon Albarn live was a remarkable thing in itself. The front man of Blur has done so much in his career; it’s always been a dream to see his beautiful face and voice in real time. He also had a lot of positive things to say in between songs, about the entire tour, seeing America, and the importance of Seattle.
